Choose the trilling and tranquil Tampere

Tampere has made a name for itself as a major Nordic congress destination, particularly since the inauguration of Tampere Hall two decades ago. The city's excellent infrastructure and services meet the needs of even the most demanding congress organiser.

Tampere is a lively university town. For international congress delegates it offers an innovative academic environment and numerous interesting research centres and laboratories to visit.

Tampere Hall is the leading conference facility in Finland and a major conference and concert centre in Scandinavia. Tampere Hall hosts over 20 international conferences every year.

Tampere is a beautiful, green city between two lakes, offering an array of leisure activities, such as Nordic walking, lake cruises, original sauna experiences, swimming in the fresh water lakes.

The city centre is nicely compact: all major hotels, restaurants and shops are within a convenient walking distance of each other.

Connections: Tampere is easily accessible. Tampere International Airport is served by direct flights from a number of European cities. The airport is compact and close to the city centre. Tampere-Pirkkala airport is 25 km (15 minute drive) from the city centre. You could be at your hotel half an hour after your plane has landed!

Blue1/SAS has several daily flights to Tampere from Stockholm and will open a connection to Copenhagen in October 2011. The flights from Copenhagen will fly twice a day.

AirBaltic flies to Tampere from all over Europe via the hub of Riga and domestically from Rovaniemi.

Finnair can fly you to Tampere from Helsinki.

Ryanair has numerous direct flights to Tampere from Alicante, Bremen, Edinburgh, Frankfurt/Hahn, Kaunas, London/Stansted, Malaga, Milan/Bergamo, Oslo/Rygge, Pisa, Riga, Rome/Campino and Trapani.

By train: 1,5-2 hours

By car: 170 km, 1,5 hours

The largest meeting facility is Tampere Hall, which can accommodate 2,000 people in its largest auditorium.

Two more hotels with a total of 387 rooms will open in 2012.


Education & Research

Two universities: The University of Tampere with approximately 15,000 degree students and Tampere University of Technology with approximately 10,000 students.

In addition, Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) offers Bachelor and Master level studies for 10,000 students in seven educational fields. The Police College of Finland also operates in Tampere.

Tampere has a number of research institutes that work in close cooperation with theuniversities.



Tampere is known for education, research and technology. Up to 15% of Finland's national R&D budget is spent in the Tampere Region. The region has strong and focused business activities and research expertise in seven different fields:
